Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."   Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

The nurture and spiritual development of the young people of our congregation are extremely important to us here at Orwell and Portmoak.  All volunteers and staff working directly with children are Enhanced Disclosure checked and we are working towards all joining the PVG Scheme in line with the Church of Scotland's requirements over the coming months.

Créche

Créche areas are provided in both churches for use by young families, particularly the under 3s, allowing children to play freely while the adults enjoy Sunday morning worship with us.  At Orwell and Portmoak, we are happy for children to behave like children - there's no problem at all with a bit of noise coming from the créche areas within church.  In fact it's rather great to hear!  However, at Orwell Church there's an upper room available if you'd rather, complete with speakers from which the whole church service can be relayed.

Junior Church

Junior Church runs during Sunday morning worship at both churches in our parish, in school term time, and is open to children and young people aged 3 years and upwards (younger children are also welcome, with parental supervision).  The children's programme each week tends to be based on the themes from the readings and sermon being shared in church, so children and parents/carers can share together what they have taken from the morning's teachings, discussions and activities!

Messy Church

Messy Church is a way of being church that is an alternative to regular Sunday morning worship.  Particularly suited to young families with active little ones, it’s an all-age approach that encourages noise, interaction, creativity and active worship.  Learn more about Messy Church here.

@spire

Our youth group @spire, designed for young people of secondary school age into young adulthood, currently does not have a regular meeting time or venue, but watch this space, or feel free to get in touch with Cara if you'd like to know more about what could be on offer for your age group.

Schools

Our church has regular contact with both our parish primary schools on a regular basis. The minister regularly attends Milnathort Primary School and Portmoak Primary School, to lead assemblies or for contact with individual classes on request.
