Updates from the Project Team

                                                                        Earn Singers in Concert

We held a very successful concert by the Earn

Singers on Saturday 9th of March which greatly

entertained the audience and raised £736 in the

process. We are very grateful to the Earn Singers,

                                                            their conductor Ken Greenaway and

accompanist David Watt for helping us to

                                                            achieve such a great result.

                        ‘Change for Church’

We continue to raise funds with Change for Church boxes.

It’s amazing how collecting that annoying loose change that

weighs down pockets and purses fairly mounts up. The old

saying that every penny counts certainly is true as we have

raised around £300 so far.

If you’d like to help by having a Change for Church box,

these are available from the church office on South Street,

                        ‘Give as You Live

Another fundraising scheme which is ongoing is

‘Give as you Live’. This is an easy way for online shoppers

to contribute to our project without

spending anything extra. Search to see whether your

favourite store is one of the thousands available.  Simply

visit it through the ‘Give as you Live’ Orwell and

Portmoak Church link and you will be able to raise free

                                            funds for us.

Photography Competition

Calling all budding photographers! As part of our fundraising efforts, we will be producing a calendar for 2020, featuring our lovely local area. A photography competition is underway to find the best images for our calendar.

The competition is open to three age groups:

  1. -12 years and under

  2. -13 to 17 years

  3. -18 years +

Following the closing date on the 31st August, an exhibition will take place in September.  Visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourite photographs in each age category, with the most popular photos for each age group featuring in our “2020 Vision” calendar.

The rules and information for entering the competition are provided on the flyers below.  Please click the images for details.

                        The ‘Buy-a -Brick’ Scheme

In January we started selling “bricks”. Many folk have purchased “bricks” which are displayed in the church office window and

outside the church. Local businesses and organisations have also become involved by buying “bricks” too. Through the Buy-a-

Brick scheme we have raised almost £400.  If you would like to buy a brick (or as many as you like) for £5 each, you can

click on the image to the left to download an order form or these can be picked up in either of our church buildings. Your brick

will then appear both outside Orwell church on the railings and in the office window.

                        Upcoming Initiatives and Events

Later this year there will be a village historical walk which will coincide with the launch of a recipe book called “Ba’ Hill Bakes”.

Look out too for information about an upcoming fashion show which will be held in the Dance Connect studios in Kinross.

If you would like to know more about any of our fundraising activities or the progress of the buildings project please contact the church office at 29 South Street, Milnathort or email orwellandportmoakchurch@gmail.com.
