Our Minister


Our Minister, Very Rev Dr Angus Morrison, was inducted here at Orwell and Portmoak in 2011, having previously served for 11 years as minister at St Columba's Old Parish Church in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. He is married to Marion and they have four children.


Born in Glencoe, as a child Angus lived and attended school in Oban, Stromness and Edinburgh. On leaving school he studied Classics and Divinity at the University of Glasgow and also completed studies at the Universities of Pisa and London. He gained his PhD at New a College, University of Edinburgh.


Angus began his church career when he was ordained in the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland in 1973, following which he served in ministries in Oban and Edinburgh, before transferring to the Church of Scotland.


Other significant roles in which Angus has served within the church have included:

*Moderator of the Presbytery of Lewis (2003-2004)

*Convenor of the Mission and Discipleship Council (2005-2009)

*Member of the Special Commission on same-sex relationships and the ministry

*Chaplain to the Lord High Commissioner (2005 and 2006) 


He is currently also a Chaplain to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.


Angus was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland during 2015 to 2016.
